Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has been thoroughly impressed by the U.S. national team while analyzing World Cup games on French television.
His high praise has led some to believe that several Americans, including keeper Tim Howard and midfielders Landon Donovan and Michael Bradley, could be on the Gunners' radar when the European transfer window opens next month.
"I'd lay some good odds Arsenal signs at least one USA player this summer. Wenger's a fan and former MLS bigwig Gazidis is a boss there. Book it," tweeted Fox Soccer's Ives Galarcep from South Africa on Sunday. Galarcep was referring to former MLS deputy commissioner Ivan Gazidis, who is now the storied London club's CEO.
Of the three aforementioned Yanks, Bradley is the most likely to end up with the perennial Premier League contenders next season. Wenger has indicated that he intends to acquire a young defensive midfielder, and the 22-year-old Bradley has been one of the tournament's best so far.
